Playing with the stash
Posted by Swanny on Sunday, May 6, 2007 12:21 PM

So I'm just playing around with the stash today looking at some old helo kits and I have this 1956 mold, 1972 release of the Revell H-19 kit and while the basic form of the model shows some good potential the interior is not even close. Nothing surprising here considering the age of the kit so I start looking at images of H-19s and H-55s on airliners.

Now I have a pretty good idea of what the seats and interior should look like and have created a master seat today (have a couple of these kits so will make resin sets for all of them). The seat bottom is a left over from a Cutting Edge H-34 set that had a bonus sprue, the back rest is made from layers of different thickness styrene sheet and the seat belts are from an old Lionroar German set. I'll probably will have to remove the PE seatbelt for the resin casting stage but this is not a hard type of seatbelt to find still. Before I make my molds I need to do the center consol, main IP and new collectives. Ya know what is really wild? I don't even plan on building any of these kits in the foreseeable future (no, I'm not getting rid of any either so don't get your hopes up).

Perhaps we have the market cornered on these kits, Matt.  I have three of them.  I'll be watching your progress on the seat and interior parts.
