Just got my book through today. It's called  Mil's Heavy Lift Helicopters  Mi-6/Mi/10/v-12/Mi-26

by Yefi Gordon, Dmitry and Sergey Komissarov  published by Midland Publishing.

If anyone is thinking of building an Mi-6 or the South Front -26 then I recommend this book to you. It has colour pics as well as loads of b&w ones of engines and cockpits etc and line drawings. It has a chapter on each of the particular a/c mentioned in the title.

Rich,

Glad I could help.  I enjoy the challenge of finding info on aircraft I'm not familiar with.  The reference book will help alot, I'm sure.  Good luck!

Ray,

Thank you so much for taking the effort to post all those links. I must have trawled through airliners.net loads of times and thought I had all the pics on there.....obviously I missed quite a few. Pics now saved away for those dark winter nights. I'd love to have a go at the firefighter version. I reckon I could scratch the front bit OK, but from there it gets a bit sketchy. I know all those pipes lead to the back where there is another hose?? which can shoot a jet of water from a hatch on the belly. I've just ordered a book about Mil's heavy lift helis so maybe there'll be more in that. Thanks again,

Rich

Rich,

I don't know much about Soviet choppers, but here is a site with at least one good pic of the Firefighting variant of the Mi-6:

More of same from airliners.net :

Here is a shot of snow covered firefighter from rear:

Most of the above are front views, but I thought you might be interested anyway.

Here's a few rear shots of regular Mi-6:

I hope that helps.

Many thanks for those links. I don't think I'd be happy walking around inside that thing like those guys in the picture, well not without a lead-lined suit anyway. I did another search on google and found a site where you can actually buy a Hook for only $300000. Bargain.

Thanks again,

Rich

I remember seeing pictures of the aircraft graveyard from Chernobyl and it had some close up pics of the MI-6. I could only find these, but I know there are more.

Hello Gents,

I'm looking for any pics of the Mi-6 Hook clamshell doors and any interior shots. I have quite a few of the cockpit but need the cargo bay. All the pics I have are from the side and none from a rear perspective. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried most sources and walkaround sites but have come up with nothing. I f anyone can come up with any -6pzh firefighter shots that would be unbelievable. Again I need the rear view.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

PS I'm collecting info for my winter project, the Amodel Mi-6 in 1/72
