Revell 1:72 Helis - Kriegmarine Sea King, Whisky Cobra, Eurocopter - new or re-releases?
Posted by GRS on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 3:22 PM

Hi

Saw some Revell helis at my local hobby shop. They looked really tempting but I've been burnt too many times with buying "new kits" that are in fact, re-releases.

Are the following kits new or re-releases?

Revell 4411 Kriegmarine Sea King with Skua Missiles.

Revell 4415 AH1W Cobra

Revell 4485 Eurocopter Tigre

Thanks!

Okay, I can only speak for the Cobra, which is a re-release of the Italeri/Tamiya/Testors molds.  IDK who actually came out with it first, but it is the same as the other molds...

GRS,

I built Revell's 1/72 Sea King with Skua missiles about a year ago.  I don't know if it is new or a re-release, but it was a very very nice kit with great detail, great fit, and great decals.  I recommend it highly.

The Sea King is a really excellent kit.  I haven't built mine yet so I can't comment on the fit but the surface and interior detail look great.  The decal sheet is extensive with a lot of minute markings.  For some reason, this kit seems to be really inexpensive.  I got mine for about $11 US retail and it usually sells for less than $20.  This is an excellent bargain!  Revell has posted the instructions on its website: http://www.revell.de/manual/04411.PDF

The AH-1W is an Italeri reissue.  Instructions: http://www.revell.de/manual/04415.PDF

The Tigre is a new mold and the reviews indicate that it is a very good kit. Instructions: http://www.revell.de/manual/04485.PDF

If I had to pick only one, I'd DEFINITELY go with the Sea King!
