I am scratchbuilding a 1/96 scale model of an Arleigh Burke class Flight I destroyer. I would like to include an appropriate helicopter sitting on the helo deck.

I would greatly appreciate guidance / suggestions as to proper helicopter type and any kit available for same in 1/96 (or sufficiently close) scale

A NAVY SH-60 Seahawk would be appropriate.  Academy did/does some 1/100 scale Blackhawks.  Accurate Minatures does a USAF HH-60 in 1/100 as well.  I don't think anyone does small-scale (smaller than 1/72) Seahawks though.  Good luck.

I think it was Revell that did a "Hunt for Red October" multi-kit set many years ago that included a small SH-60B Seahawk.  I believe the scale was 1/100, which would fit nicely to 1/96.  Finding that kit will be another story...
