CH-53 in HMX colors
Posted by Yamafreak72 on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 1:03 PM

Hey Gents,

I'm usually hanging around the motorcycle builds, but due to a recent PCS, I'm looking at building Academy's CH-53 in HMX-1 colors.  However, I haven't seen any decals out there for it yet.  I know Minicraft has the VH-60N coming out and Academy's CH-46 has HMX decals with it, but they obviously won't do.  I already tried a search of the forums with no luck.  Any help is appreciated.

It's a great kit.

I'm thinking that Academy's CH-46E kit's decals might be suitable for size of the lettering.  And you'd have the kit left over to build a Bull-Frog.

I have a decal sheet at home for 1/72 scale H-53's and one is a VH-53. I don't remember if it's Superscale, Microdetails, or Aeroscale. But I know it is VH-53 and 1/72 scale. I think I saw 1/48 scale of the same sheet when I bought it on Ebay last year. I think Fujimi has a VH-53 kit, but it's not a white top like the decal sheet I have.

I couldn't find those Microscale decals with a quick search.  Still can't find anything in 48 scale, might just have to get a modex number sheet and do one of our gray schemes.  Thanks for the info though.

You might check with this Marine. He is talking of doing a set for HMX-1. Nothing yet, so if you're not in a hurry, it might be worth the wait.

Give him a shout.
