Anyone know of an after market source or have one in a spares box?

Please let me know.

Thank you kindly for any and all responses.

TJ.

What kind of Bell Helicopter are you looking for?  There were many types made by Bell in the time period you mentioned.  For that scale, the closest is going to be 1/300 ship model scale.  Trumpeter and others have 1/300 aircraft accessory sets that may have something you are looking for in that scale.

Thanks ArtyOops [oops]....yeah,...I should'a been more descriptive but the fact is that I'm not quite sure actually. I'm mainly an armor buff. My Dad served on the U.S.S Atka Icebreaker (Originally commissioned the USCGC Southwind in 1944) during the Korean War and so far I think that I've located a source for that kit in 1/292 scale. However most of the kits come with a Sikorzky (sp?) copter and the one that was on his was a two seater Bell hele in 1952. Actually they lost one copter and pilot in the arctic while deployed.

I'm trying to get the stuff together for his birthday at the end of October. He's never had a model of the ship he was on so I thought I'd suprise him.

Guess I have alota research to do.Dunce [D)]

If it was a two-seater Bell in '52, it was most likely a Bell 47 w/floats.  The Bell 47 is the same type of helo in M*A*S*H.  I don't think you will find one that small though, it would be tiny.  In 1/72 scale, it is only about 3" long.

I just checked my 1:72 scale Bell 47/H13, and it's 7.25" long from the main rotor tip to the rear rotor guard.   Tiger Scale Models has some N (1:160) scale helicopters.  In N scale, the Bell 47 is about 2.5" long.  The size he's looking for would be about 1.125" long.

I was refering to the size of the fuselage, w/o the rotor overhang at the front; from the nose bubble to the tail.  Either way, it is still small.

Bingo!  That is why I recommended the 1:700 Loose Cannon kit to you over on the ship forum.  I also recommended the White Ensign Bell 47.  It comes with an open boom in PE.
