Clam-shell door cylinders
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, October 19, 2007 7:14 AM
Actually it was not a complete rebuild. Just the typical items that tend to detach when a kit is dropped from a table.

Starboard cylinder is obviously missaligned. Should connect the door hinge as in port side. That is what happens when you are in a hurry and armed with superglue ... As a matter of fact the whole door is missaligned, but...
Transparencies are another weak point. I have become much more proficient since then in use of Future and masking tape (3M blue).

SH release has prompted me to re-build the kit. So here it is in all its 'glory'

By the way, my son (now 6) has just completed his first kit: a Revell Easy-Kit Star Wars Shuttle
and I'm soooo proud.

If that's the rebuild. You did a great job putting her back together.

By the way. Not being nit-picky, just curios. Are the cylinders, on the clam shell, suppose to be that way? It appears that on the right hand door the rod end of the cylinder is attached to the fuselage and the left hand cylinder rod attaches to the door. Like I said, I am just curios.

I have one pre-ordered from Great Models Webstore, the price is 45.85 there.  Still shown as pre-ordered today.  It's nice to see that it is at least in the test shot stage.

What is the typical quality of special hobby kits? I like to build the unusual and this certainly falls into that catagory. Any idea of what price range his will fall into?

Interesting.  I actually worked with a few folks who worked on those helos.  I'm with granddad John though.  1/48 would have caught my intrest.

It shouldn't be hard to come up with Uncle Sam's Misguided Children decals.
