Mi-24 Hind A?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 9:11 AM
Has anyone seen a 1/48th of the Hind-A (as seen in Rambo2 and in Red Dawn)? It's the one with the squared-off cockpit glass versus the double bubble. Been thinking about scratchbuilding a conv. from Monogram's Hind-D, but looks like a lotta work. Just curious..

I have it by Hasegawa in 1/72.

I don't think anyone produced it in 1/48. If they did, I'd have it. If you know of one, please let me know! :-)

The only way I know of to get a 1/48 Hind A is to buy Monogram's Hind D and Cobra's conversion kit to make it an A.

I don't know if that conversion kit is still available, I saw it a few years back in a Meteor Productions catalog.

Oh really? I didn't know. Certainly would be easier to slap on a pre-made conv. than scratchbuild my own. Thx. BTW, Meteor rules.

Airfix made an A model in 1/72nd, not sure how accurate is was though.
The 'Hinds' in those two films were adapted Aerospatialle Puma's.
With all those flat panels a scratchbuild wouldn't be that hard, it would certainly be cheaper!

Whoops, double post there last night. Pretty remarkable that Hollywood can make a 1/1 scale Puma look like a Hind-A. I guess most of us should be able to do it in 1/48th! :) Interesting movie factoid, Albertsponson.
