                        I thought I would post some pics of my current build - the 1/35 MRC AH-1W.

                        I have decide to open up the transmission and both engines (yep -I'm a glutton for punishment.....).  So far I've cut off a lot of the original kit plastic and started to build the various bulkheads etc.  I was intending to use the transmission from the UH-1C but decided it was over-simplified so have started to scratchbuild it.  I have built the transmission platform (case assembly) so far (as shown in the pics - I will be replacing the UH-1C transmission with a scratchbuilt version).

                         

                         

                        I've been using the Eduard and Cobra Company detail sets,  The cockpit includes parts from both sets together plus some scrachbuilding such as the various cables from the electronic boxes on the pilot's console and the temperature control hoses.  I've added the seatbelts but not posed them yet (which is why they are sticking up in the air!). Cyclic and collective are still to be added, as is the side armour and HUD screen.

                         Looking good so far my friend.. Especially the engine housing..!! What scheme will she be in?? By the way, whats the WD-40 for?? Ah leme guess, for those hard to fit pieces.. Laughs

                        Geordie,

                        Howay the lads!! Excellent work mate. Looks like it will be every bit as good as your Huey. I love watching these builds on the forums as you pick up so much info and know how. How did you make the air con hoses appear corrugated?

                        Thanks for the comments gents.

                         I haven't decided on a colour scheme yet, although I am tempted by the HML/A-167 cobra snake along the side of the AH-1W (I have the TwoBobs Whiskeys in the Mix decals).

                        I made the corrugated piping by wrapping bead wire around plastic rod which had been melted in to shape.  I then applied superglue over the wiring.  First time I've tried it and I think it has turned out to be a reasonable representation of the air hoses from the photos I am using.

                         I'll post more as I go - but progress will be slow - three kids and a full-time job see to that!
