Here are a few pics from my latest build, a Revell 1/72 USCG HH-65. The kit overall isn't too bad, except for the horrendous seam where the engine cowling meets the top of cabin. Was way more work then I wanted to put in to fill it. The fit of the side doors is a bit dodgy, but, a little patience and they eventually go in okay. The detail of the rotor head is very simplified, which may be an issue to some folks, I lived with it. Other then that, it was a fun build and the kit ends up looking like a Dolphin, ready to go on a rescue mission.
Here is an overhead view showing the cowling seam and also the scratchbuilt rescue hoist that you need to make, as the kit doesn't include one. I used sprue and a modified Hawkeye part from their HH-3F parts kit.
Here is a side view showing the left rear door and window filled in like the USCG model and also the fairing by the rear fenstron removed and filled in.
This view shows the right rear door filled in, but, the USCG kept the window in this side.
And finally, here is a shot of the added antennas that were scratched. Two on the right rear side and almost lost in the shadow at back, another blade antenna at the bottom.
Want to give a shout out to dkmacin for his help in providing some photos and info on the mods the USCG made to their birds. 'Preciate the help!
