Ok, I got these from a consignment sale. I picked up three, but havent finished the third yet. They are from MAch 2 [from france] and honestly, are some of the crappiest kits I have ever seen. Airfix looks great in comparison. [the third one I picked up is an HH-34B and has so much flash I cant stand to work on it]
The first is a Sikorski R5 Dragonfly. The kit comes with a sparse interior, and decals for US or British Navy. I chose US. the decals were absolute crap. The numbers disintegrated on contact with water, and I had to use dry transfers. all other decals were clear coated first. The windows were all SUPER thick, and wouldnt go into the fuselage. So I played around and ended up using clear glue. Very displeased with the building of it, but not to unhappy with the final result. It fills a niche in my 1/72 helo collection.
The second is also 1/72, and is the Piasecki H-25A Army Mule. Now, this is where I became VERY angered. The box top clearly stated "The Army Mule" and even featured the Piasecki Mule logo. The decals, however, were again, only Navy. So I opted to make my own. The serial number is of the helo at Rucker's museum. The build went about the same as the other one. Again, windows were too thick. I was pleased with the final model, however I really wish it had the Mule logo. either way, another good addition to my collection.
Its very sad that two wonderful subjects are only available in such poor kits.
