My 1/144 Knighthawk is finished
Posted by PatlaborUnit1 on Friday, February 1, 2008 7:10 PM

Ok guys here are some shots of the 1/144 Dragon Knighthawk.

I added some interior details that are all but now invisible and scabbed on sensors to the tail and made a new drain on the right side of the fuselage. I also added the mirrors and light aft of the winch and made new antennas. I need to play with the tilt of the main rotor, and so far I have broken three mains off handling the model. I need to permanently attach it to a base soon. Drilling out the windows for the CE station really helped increase the overall effect.

The big white decal took time to work down with multiple applications of MicroSol and hot water prodded with a wet Qtip. To do it over I would cut the lettering and red strip away from the yellow bolts and mask and paint the white, then apply the decals. I used a Tamiya German Grey acrylic wash over Future and shot the front end dead flat and the aft semigloss. I had fun with this and I will build up the other kit OOB pretty much for comparison.

Hi David,

Good to see another helicopter build from you, and a nice one it is. For grins you should take a photo of your 1/35th UH-60 with the 1/144th MH-60 so we can see just tiny that model is.

Again nice job. So, what is next from the Louisianna Rotor Works?

Cheers,

Alby

Great job.  That is just how I remember her when I saw down at NAS Whiting Field for the fly-in.  It is a much better CAG scheme than the one they have now.  Great Job indeed!!!  Makes me want to get off my butt and start on mine.  I wish they would do an MH-53E or an HH-60H in 1/144.

Cheers

Alby, Scott, many thanks. you know, a while back Floyd W sent me some pics of his snake that went down and cracked both skid tubes. I'm looking through my stash to see if I have another Monogram snake to build for the nationals. Im headed out in the perfect weather tomorrow to paint some Marines in 1/35 so thats my agenda tomorow but while the weather is good I may perch the 1/144 on the 1/35 for fun comparison! Good idea!! :D

David,

Great build, man!  I can't believe what you did with that tiny bird. Great paint scheme too.  I wish I could see her in person.  I guess it'll have to wait until the summer. Take care and keep em coming!

Looks great Dave.  Mine got pushed back a bit cuz I needed a break from 144th.  Seeing yours puts it back to the top of the list after the 2 projects I have going now.

I need to crank out the other one that came in the box.

considering that they came from the same mold, and are so quick to build, I SHOULD be able to get it assembled and painted.  The DECALS slowed me down because they are comprehensive!

Awesome to see another bird from you, David.
