For some reason I pulled out a 1:48 Hasegawa Hughes 500 from the stash and started building it. I was going to make a civilian bare bones workhorse...actually considering making a diorama of it lifting a horse in a sling...but I opted to install a custom interior. Here is the first shot of the interior having added the seats from a Hasegawa Learjet.

I did a little filing to give the front seat a relief for the cyclic and the rear bench headrest for the overhead pillar. Since the kit doesn't have collectives, I'll scratch a couple from wire and styrene bits.

The cockpit fits well into the fuselage, which I'll install after getting the detail work wrapped up.

A little more progress made.

Base color of Drab Green.

Then some strips of masking tape were torn and applied as masking for bands of the second color of the scheme.

I added Dark Green, then removed the masking strips.

Still pondering whether to add a third color to the mix...black or dark earth streaks to replicate the camo pattern found on tiger camo fatigues.

Hi Gerald,

Looks like the Hasegawa kit builds up pretty fast (is this the same mold as the Academy MH-6 'Stealth Helicopter' kit?). I'd go with the Tiger camo stripes, that would make for a pretty neat looking Loach.

Cool looking model so far!

Not exactly as I had envisioned it, but it does have a striking effect. The two 'stripe' colors are flat black and SAC bomber tan.

Time to assemble and finish painting the rotor assemblies. I broke off one of the landing skid pins while test fitting but it is an easy enough repair with a drill some wire and CA. Think I will peel the masking off the glass...probably premature but I want to see how it looks!

The Camo looks great on that mean little egg. One thing however, It looks like there's some dust or something (white specks) at the base of the tail boom. It shouldn't be hard to clean up, I just hope it's not dried into the paint. Great looking machine.

It's just some dust from sanding too close to the model before taking the picture...I forgot to wipe it off. It's time to wipe down the bench again and vacuum the workshop...I do it every few days otherwise it gets away from me.
