Well I knew there would be a actual eye witness to this color.Thank you very much.I am going to do a custom match from some old VH-3 folders I have.I was just going to put a couple of small couches and arm chair in the back with a tan or gray color scheme.I am not to worried about realism as long as we can get prety close color match for the exterior.

I bet alot of folks aren't to happy about the HMX contract going to the 101 instead of the 92. I was really suprised Sikorsky didn't land that one. Oh well ... Thanks for your imput on this stuff and have a great week .. The best   Davey5

Well, this thread is right up my alley!  As far as "HMX-1 Green" as it is marked on the touch up cans we get goes, the closest you're going to get without a custom mix is FS 14097 gloss or 34097 flat.  It is a "one customer" color as was stated earlier.  Nothing classified or anything, more of a copyright sorta thing.  I built Minicraft's 1/48 VH-60N not too long ago, it's only about 60% accurate. The interior is for a standard Blackhawk, and the side doors are wrong in that the VH has clamshell opening doors, and the kit's are the sliding type.  The antennae and other lumps and bumps are closer to what I think should be a MH-60, but you'd have to ask someone who is an authority on that version.  I'm OK with that though, I don't think it's a good idea for Minicraft or any foreign entity having overly detailed drawings or photos of this aircraft.  Probably the best pics I've seen are on Airliners.net.  You'll be able to see the differences between the VH and HH-60's pretty clearly.  Bottom line if you want a really accurate VH-60N, you've got a fair bit of scratchbuilding ahead of you.

Yes I have herd of Gloss olive green being used and some of the shots I have seen looks like that color should work. Thanks for helping. I think I am going to do some spray-outs just to see what I can come up with. Then I am going to try to put some pics on this and see what everyone thinks. If that gets to crazy then I will shoot it Zeebra and the hec with it...

                                                 thanks Davey5

I found these old instructions in my model aircraft files . There from a Revell HH-60D Nighthawk 1/48 scale helicopter , kit no.4434 .

The alternative paint scheme for the Presidential version suggest Green 14097 , White and the rotor blades and head are gray FS36118 .   john

Don't hold me to it,but I think the color is supposed to be either gloss Olive Drab or Gloss Olive Green.I don't know the FS color numbers right now but one of those two should be close to it.I don't know much about the VH-60 other than the standard UH-60 info it has with it.I hope it helps!

Ya jon the color's they are suggesting are not even close,It looks lighter in some pics and darker in others,, I still have time . I asked my brother ,who works at Sikorsky and he gave me like a 8 digit number and Azko ( Sikkens ) as the brand. I went to several paint stores that carry Sikkens and that number was not in their system. It is a one customer color, and probably comes from one supplier.I can't ask more question about the Presidental. They don't like to supply info on that subject. Very high clearances to acess Stuff about the prezes stuff. So some one out there knows what model paint to use.   I am not on every day so i will keep on researching same as you. Takl soon.

I was wondering the same thing myself . I have a 1/48 Minicraft Sikorsky VH-60N 'Marine One' kit no.11642 in my stash . The instructions say marine green FS 14079 . However I thought FS 34097 was  marine green ? Confused [%-)] . So I would like to know as well . I do have some aftermarket decals on order for the VH-3 Seaking , so I will be interested to see what they suggest ,hopfully they will arrive in the next couple of days . I always thought the green looked the same on the presidential helicopters .     john
