Progress pic's USCG HH-3F Pelican

Looking as good as your Jolly. I love the way you've scratch built all that stuff, amazing work. I'll be watching this pretty closely as my 2nd HH-3 should be landing on my door step soon. It's suprising that there are so few Pelican interior shots to go off. I was looking last week and didn't find anything worth while., well nothing to add to what you've already built. I have seen a pic with a chair by the exit door. I'll see if I can post it.

Keep posting your pics. BTW, where are your figures from?

I served in ASW SH-3H's and they looked pretty much like the pictures shown. Different equipment, of course. But all the longerons, ribbing and wiring, floor panels, etc. exposed and very busy, overall.

The seats were EXACLTY like those - and as uncomfortable as those appear. Especially at 3500 feet, since the heaters rarely worked...

Hi rich and david , thanks for posting those pic's rich . I copied them into my computer , I already had the first one , it was all I had to work from . I like the second pic as it shows some cables attached to the rear loading ramp . I haven't decided as to pose the ramp open or closed . I posted a pic in the Diorama forum section [titled helicopter diorama] showing the ramp open but it's not all the way down . I thought about all that roof plumbing and wireing but I don't have anything in 1/72 scale to try and reproduce what's in the photo and it's probably beyond my scratch-building capability's anyway . The radar operator and little guy in the basket are from an Idea SH-60 Seahawk helo kit , the ground crew figure is from Italeri's kit no.1246 "NATO Pilots and Ground Crew" . Iv'e decided to do a complete diorama using a number of pilots and ground crew figures along with Hasegawa's Ground crew equipment set . As I mentioned in the Diorama section I'm searching for a modern refuelling truck , something similar to the pic I posted . So that's it so far , next step is to close up the fuselage halves and start glueing some of Hasegawa's ground crew equipment together , mmm lots of work to go . I'll keep eveyone posted on my continuing progress . Kind regards John

If it would help, there is an HH-3E at the museum at McClellan where I volunteer that I could take photos of for you.  We open the back ramp when we want to and the side door any time the weather is OK.

Hi John , It would be great if you could post a few pic's of the interior of an HH-3 . I'm sure lot's of people on these forum pages would be extremly greatfull , including myself . Reference photo's of any aircraft/helicopter I think are worth there weight in gold . Even just three or four photo's would be excellent , thank's for offering John . Kind regards Helo 53 , John

Yes please. Loads of pics if you can. Can we have some of the landing gear and that grey "canvas" cover with holes in,which runs along the edge of the sponson, plus of course anything from the interior, cockpit etc....basically everything you can. Many thanks.

I have pictures of the HH-3E up now.  There is no canvas cover on the sponsons on this one, but there are close ups of about everything else.
