best huey kit

The Italeri kit DOES look like a winner.

I'm back on topic - sorry for the diversion.

After reading some of these posts the other day , I didn't realize that the Heller offering of the 1/48 UH-1N Huey was a rebox of Italeri's version . Over the past couple of months every time I went to the local hobby store I kept seeing the Heller kit on the shelf for $20 . Being a Heller offering I was a little suspect about the quality and overlooked her lots of times ; until yesterday . This kit is terrific.

The two sprue's were bagged as was the clear parts which were seperatly bagged . The kit also includes two XM-93 Miniguns as well as two rocket launcher's . All in all it was a wonderfull suprise and for 20 bucks , I've been smiling ever since I got home yesterday from the hobby store . It certainly pays to keep checking these forum pages every few days , there seems to be lots of bargins out there and sometimes right under my nose ... A little knowledge go's a  long way . For 1/48, it's definitely Italeri. Also check out their UH-1N kit. It's been reboxed under Heller.

I'll second Ray's. 

Best kit out of the box is the Italeri UH-1D/H.  As for the gun birds... well... the Monogram kit... but that's a whole other can of worms.

 I have to disagree with you on the worst.  The old Aurora "Cobra" kit "B gunship" gets my vote for the worst.

My vote is for the Italeri 1/48 UH-1D/H.  On a related note, the WORST 1/48 Huey has to be the original Monogram UH-1A or UH-1B, yuk.  Fujimi reboxed this fine kit so don't be fooled by their "Black Bunny" boxing.  Same old atrocious kit.
