Ebay snag: Monogram AH-1S

Subject says it all. 9.99 + 5.40 pp

According to some prelim searching, the F model is this kit with an air data probe added above the cockpit on a quirky boom arm. I could also get frisky and scratchbuild some intake deflectors, if I was of a mind. Is this correct? I found some excellent photos of Gulf returnee F's, among others.

Im certain there are some pitfalls and worries, but overall this looks like a nice bunch of converted crude oil. Im thinking Gulf version in sand, E. Europe patrol bird or JGSDF camo.

Now, to figure out how to re-scribe the lines without messing up the rivets...

David,

Ah, now you're on to something!  The AH-1S kit is EXCELLENT right out of the box.  It is, in fact an AH-1F, but the S designation is not incorrect, just representative of an earlier time period.  The S(FMC) variant was redesignated F model in the late 80s. But I digress...

I've got 3 right now, one is nearly finished and two are in the box.  Not exactly sure how I'm going to finish the other two, but one will most likely end up with an Apache PNVS and no 20mm turret as a JAH-1S.  We'll see.

I've been working on a set of intake diverters for Cobra Company for a while now.  Just been a bit too ADD lately and haven't gotten around to finishing the masters for em.

Hopefully soon...

 Jon

Thanks, Jon.

Everything I see echoes what you say about the kit, so that is good. The intake deflectors Shouldn't be too hard to make up, I was thinking on a small vac-former.

We'll just have to see when the box arrives what we have.

that old Mono kit is my FAVORITE model! I need to snag another one off Ebay. I got one once for three bux minus box, who cares about the box anyway!

I need to crank out another one for the Nationals.  I plan on adding sandfilters to it, and making Floyd Werner's machine, he sent me a buncha pics. Don't have one right now, I must have sold one off and left me with none.  Oh well they are easy enough to find!
