Bell Longranger??
Posted by Queenslander on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 1:52 AM

I'm new to the site but does anyone know where I can get my hands on a Bell 206L Longranger model? Scale not important.

If there isn't a manufacturer currently producing one please let me know.

Nothing that I know of, you might beable to find something pre-built in plastic or diecast though.

The only Bell 206 kits I know of are all military OH-58 varients, but I heard there is a 1/32 206 coming out, but don't know what type or if its civilian or military.

Boy, I wish!  No, there are no hobby kits of any kind ever.

I've submitted the idea to Revell to do a 206L and 407 in 1/32 scale several times.  I would settle for 1/48 too.

Cheers

one of the most heavily produced light civil helicopters the world has ever seen, in use for decades, and not a kit of it is to be found........

Imagine a world without a Longranger!! ARRRRRRRRGH!

(sorry, I love them 'rangers!)

I wonder if it is the old Revell kit that they reissued in the mid 80s? I remember that kit coming with civlian markings as well as US Army markings. That kit was a reissue of the even older IMC Bell Jet Ranger.

Edit: most likely this old kit:

As far as I know the up-coming Revell kit is the old IMC model from way back when. I have an original issue kit, complete with chrome-plated engine and rotor head components. The kit may have been re-worked for its release by Revell back in the eighties. I built a Revell one back then but can't quite remember if there were any differences. Word has it that there might be some additional parts in the up-coming release to build a more modern Jet Ranger (rumoured to be new skids). Overall a good kit though.

In theory the Longranger should be possible to build from a pair of these kits but getting accurate scale plans will be the first problem. Getting the fuselage right and scratch-building the other required parts is problem No.2. A conversion for the brave only!

Didnt the IMC kit with the chromed Allison come with a sniper / green beret type fig or three?
Iremember looking at the chromed engine in the box at a shop that specialized in older kits thinking that it had a Alli 250-C18 smaller than the C20s I was working on at the time.

Kit looked good, but didnt it come out to 1/50 scale?

Good news! Revell Germany announced a civilian Jet Ranger at the Nuremburg show. ETA is June.

I'm looking forward to this but its a Jet Ranger, the Long Ranger has a larger passenger compartment and lengthened fuselage. It's a start though, or better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick as one of my friends used to say. Smile [:)]

If we can snag two kits, we can make the stretch, just have to stretch the doghouse as well, and hope the blades and tail rotor are correct.........or modify to suit.  I LOVE the look of a LRIII with the doors kicked open all the way.   When our 222B and / or UT would go down we would use one of the LRIIIs to do life flight missions.

(222......shudders!!!!)

There was a Fujimi kit that was also boxed by Testors that was 1/50 scale. The IMC/Revell kit was 1/32 scale. Revell even released it boxed with their 1/32 AH-1G.
