UH-1N to AB-412 conversion?
Posted by Avus on Thursday, October 30, 2003 2:24 AM
Hi guys!

I have panda models' UH-1N in 1/35 scale and I'd like to convert it into an AB-412.
The main differences I noted are that the AB-412 has four rotor blades and that it has an aerodynamic cover of the rotor mast.
Where can I find detailed pics of the rotorhead and cover?
Is there a conversion kit available?
Are there other differences between the two helos?

Thanks.

Klaus

The early ones were basically the 212 airframe with 412 blades and the fairings you mentioned - also different crosstube attachments .
A lot faster than the 212 steamchicken and fun to fly.
Later ones had uprated engines, larger capacity fuel system but demensions stayed the same.
I went into www.dogpile.com ( my favourite search engine )and entered Bell 412 got lottsa hits www.jeffsheliphiles.com looked good but there where lots more.
Happy searching

Thanks for the help.
I webt over to the sites and found some good pics, but they weren't detailed enough. I guess schematics would be the best for what I'm up to do: scratch buiding the whole rotor section!

No sweat I'll try and photocopy or scan the 412 parts book sections on blades, head and cowlings and mail fax or email them to you - should take a few days. That ok?
I'll put a post when I've got them. ( We got 5 of the darn things in the hangar I will see about some photos too)

Alrighty then- I have 9 pages of diagrams for you. Send me your address and I'll ship it off to you - we have people or company mail bags going to Italy on a regular basis so should be pretty quick.
Hope it will be enough - Rotor system ( remember that rotor system sits horizontal and the blades all droop a bit equally from the grips , maybe a foot max at the tip when the a/c is shut down look on the net for a photo of the beast sitting on the ground costing money and you will see what I mean) Head, Swashplate, Transmission. Upper cowlings and a/c general.
Cheers
