Best way to apply Modelmaster acryl clear green
Posted by rotorwash on Saturday, April 5, 2008 8:35 PM

I have tried after coating the clear parts with future and without.  I have used two different thinners.  I've tried brushing and airbrushing.  what gives?  does the clear paint behave differently than solid paint?   any advice would be MOST appreciated.  Thanks,

I just brushed it on both sides.  This is Tamiya's not MM acryl...

Can't speak for MM, I too use Tamiya. I thin mine with a little alcohol and airbrush it on the inside of the plastic. I finish it off with Future.

Thanks guys.  i just tried a modification of Austin's methos and dipped the whole window in the paint!  Looks a lot better than my brushed on job.  I gotta get better at airbrushing.  thanks for the replies.

Try adding food coloring to future and use this technique, it really helped me out.

Ccolina,

Thanks for the tip.  I might try that out as well.

Howdy ccolina,

Many thx for the link.  A nice simple video that....but after viewing it I have to ask the question.

Why go to the trouble of pouring out a measure of Future and thereby contaminating it so that the piece can be "dipped" instead of having the Future brushed on, only to THEN use the brush all over the piece to remove pooling.....seems like it would simpler and less wasteful to just brush it on in the first place....Future is, after all, a 'self-leveling' compound.

But then, what do I know.  :-)
