Saw my first 53 in Iraq in 2005, man what a beast.  Kicked up more sand than either the CH-47's or the Brit helicopters could do.  I tried to take a video of them lifting off, looked more like a video of a sand storm with rotor noise dubbed in.Big Smile [:D]  You can see them a little though.

That is a cool pic, thanks.  It reminds me a tour I took at the Sikorsky plant.  The tour guide, who's last name was Sikorski (with an "i"), mentioned that Igor Sikorsky (with a "y") died while working on drawings for a 3 engined, sixed bladed 53 varient.  Of coarse, this was well before the CH-53E was introduced.

Wow, that's an interesting pic.  It is so weird seeing that tail on the 53.  it kind of reminds me of a pic I saw of a test flight by Sikorsky of a 3-bladed CH-53D.

Hi everyone , I thought I would share this pic of a couple of YCH-53E prototype Super Stallions . I forgot I had the pic , Last night I had a bit of a clean up of my book shelves and aircraft files . I wonder if any aftermarket kit manufacture's would ever consider producing a resin tail fin and stabilizer ????? . Anyway I thought I would share . Kind regards John
