Look for better AH-64 Crew in 1/35th Scale for Kangnam Kit

SITREP...

Just staring work on Kangnam's AH-64D in 1/35th scale. Pulling all the stops and working with Eduard's interior and exterior detail kits. Would like to get a better crew, in full flight gear, to pose with the kit when done. Anyone have any sources to look at? I'm not a good scratch figure builder and I'd like to avoid that extra pain if at all possible but I recognize the fact I may have too in the long run.

Understand Kangnam's D kit has some problems (e.g., no ADS on engine pylons) that need adjusting. Assume I'll have to build those also. If people know about any other after market kits to cover areas Eduard's kits miss, I'd appreciate feedback.

Appreciate any help or info y'all can provide.

Wade,

Yeah, there are a LOT of inaccuracies in the Kangnam kit. Its a good kit to represent the prototype/early production D models, but overall is sorely lacking in representation of the current AH-64Ds flying. As far as the figures go, Night Flight is supposed to be coming out with some good ones.

The biggest difficulty you may have is the avionics cooling systems at the aft of each avionics bay. They're not included and the avionics bays just taper off instead of there being a large, blocky ECU there.

I'd give the kit a 6 on a scale of 1-10.

Jon,

I read an earlier link by you and I've been trying to fix those problems. Best fix would be a better model. Most "lay people" won't know the difference between a correctly built AH-64D and a close copy. Oh well...

Still plan on working the interior and exterior as best I can. Really want to get the kit built for my friend who commanded the 11th Aviation Regiment in Iraq. He gets back into the US next year and I'd like to have the darn thing done.

Heard Night Flight's name but have not gotten into much research yet. Do you have their URL?

Have you heard any info on any company coming out with an up to date AH-1G or F soon?

Thanks for the info!

Wade,

Can't say as I do... but if I did... It'd be fairly soon.

Wade,

Friend of yours commands the 11th AHR? Any chance you could pass along my email info to him to see if he'd be interested in being interviewed for my next book "US Army AH-64 Apache Units in Afghanistan and Iraq 2002-2003"?

Thanks!

Bob,

Glad to hear all is well. Been wondering what you've been up to lately! Hood in Sept 04... hmmm.... I can do that!

Got a quick question... would you be able to take some pics of your IHADSS helmet? I'm doing some consulting work right now for a modeling company and need some exterior detail shots of the helmet. It should result in some rather nice figures being produced for the Kangnam kit.

Take care and we definitely need to plan for Sept 04!

Jon,

I'll see if he'll consider. Since I'm doing this model without his knowledge I'll have to find a way to get him to agree without him getting wind of my efforts. I'll get back with you.

CHECKMATE,

I'll pass your regards!
