They were OD Green.  The early ones were a semi-gloss OD Green with full color markings.  They were found to be bullet magnets.  The later versions were standard flat OD Green with flat black markings.

Vietnam Era OH-58A Kiowa Color Question?
Posted by SCIGONE on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 1:03 PM

Hello all -

I am putting together a Testors 1/48 OH-58A Kiowa and am unsure of the color to use. Researching pics of the Kiowa, I have noticed that they appear a bit darker than OD and have a semi-gloss to them.

I am really up in the air as what color to paint it. Any suggestions would be helpful..

I am debating whether or not to use Testors 1710 Dk Green or Testors Flat Olive with a semi-gloss clear coat...

Thanks
