A Plea to Helo Modelers
Posted by HeavyArty on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 3:02 AM

As most of you know, I am now serving in Baghdad for the next year or so. I have linked up with the Baghdad Model Club and am glad to report that it is going strong. They have an office (about 10' x 10') that is stacked to about waist high with boxes upon boxes of donated models. They have plenty of supplies too, better than some hobby shops I have been in. The troops really appreciate the support and enjoy the diversion in their limited free time.

The only problem is, the helicopter representation is woefully lacking. There are boxes and boxes of aircraft, but only about a half dozen helicopter models, w/a few of them being the same one. Please send more helos so we can give the aircraft guys a run for their money. Any type, scale, counrty, etc. would be great. Any era too, but most want to build models of what they are currently using. So modern stuff would be great too.

Instead of selling some of those unwanted kits, please consider donating them to the troops. They would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone wants to donate, you can send them to me and I will get them to the clubhouse. Send them to the following address:

Quintiliani, Gino P.
HHC 10th MTN DIV (FECC)
APO AE 09342

Anything you send would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Gino,

What do you guys have there in the way of helicopters? I've got a few 1:48th H-60 kits that I could send over.

Thanks Jon.   All I could find in the way of helos was a few old 1/72 Lindberg and Monogram ones and a couple 1/72 SeaSprites, not much.  Whatever you have would be helpful and very welcomed.

I'm pretty sure I've got your address.  I'll see what I can get together.

So just kits, don't need supplies?  We would love to help.  I'll send several Marine birds over, OOH-RAH!  Thank you Major for looking out for morale.

The local LHS here has a ton of helo kits for $5 each, (just like the Dragon armor kits for $20 each I posted over in armor). I need to buy an armor model for a GB but once that's done, i'll see about shipping them over ASAP.
