LOL, sorry,I just found the swearing part funny....I can just picture that.SoapBox [soapbox]

Ya, scratchbuilding something seems like a lot faster way of doing things. at that scale, it doesn't need to be perfect and all you would need would be some styrene and super glue.

On the bench:

1/35 Tamiya M26 Pershing-0%

1/144 Minicraft P-38J Lightning-50%

Numerous 1/35 scale figures in various stages if completion.

Hmmmm...that's a tough scale. I'll tell you what, at that small of a size I'd bet you could scratch what you are looking for a lot better than you could buy it anyway...

Big Diorama...Tiny Problem
Posted by Maldus on Monday, August 18, 2008 5:40 PM

I am finishing up a diorama of Gavutu-Tanambogo (little islands near Guadalcanal) and am stuck on two items. I am hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

To complete the diorama, I would like to find two items in 1:285 or even 1:300 scale.

1) LCP(L) Landing Craft

2) Type 93 Twin Japanese AA Gun

The landing craft looks a great deal like an open topped lifeboat with a few MG mounts in the front. At this scale, I would be happy to just find a relatively correct looking boat frame and then I could add the MG mounts. Marines used these in the earlier parts of the war and went over the side to disembark. Any ideas? Maybe something off a ship model? Scratch building would take too long I'm afraid. GHQ doesn't make them.

The Type 93 Twin is a 12.7 or 13.2mm (depending on your source) AA gun. Frankly I thought that maybe they might have been mounted on ships but haven't been able to locate one. If I must, I can see subbing in a twin-barrelled...well, anything...

The diorama need not be perfectly accurate but I would like to get as close as possible. I thank you for any help you might have in directing me to a source for these two items.

 Best regards,

 Matt
