This is just the reason that i dont post in the Armor forum anymore. Elitist. You guys should read what you write sometimes and take a second before pressing the post button.

Do you like wailing on this guy? Do you get some perverse pleasure out of it? I personally like looking at Dio's. Mostly they are produced by a lot more talented people than myself. In a lot of cases, Model maniac posts stuff a lot nicer than some of the 'Old hands' stuff thats posted.  So, he buys most of his stuff, Who cares. The stuff looks good. So it might not be historically 100% or the uniforms may have the wrong coloured Waffenfarb. But geez, get a grip. If you dont like the man or his stuff, dont try to badger him away from FSM. Thats Bullying guys. Just dont respond to the post. Its simple.

Sorry for that but you guys need to grow up.

I think it looks great, Model mainiac. Another nice Dio for your collection. Thx for posting.

Blah, blah, blah.....

More sniveling as usual.

We are so lucky that you provide us these models to look at.  What would we do without you?????

Please, get down off your pedestal you have placed yourself on and go tell it to someone who cares.  Obviously no one here really does anymore, as evidence by the above posts and those to your other amazing models, most of which just get ignored now.  You are truey underwhelming us.

If you haven't caught on yet, we are not posting the historical and build inaccuracies for you anymore, since we know they will not improve.  We know you don't care about historical accuracy or build quality.  At this point we are pointing out the flaws for others who actually build models so they don't make the same mistakes.

Thanks for all friendly comments and recommendations, esp. from smeagol, the Baron and Hans. But please don't expect much changes for we're used to doing what we have done for so many years, i.e., building them OOB.

Story? For those who ask for one, you all have imagination, use it! We build dioramas, not write story. I've posted  100+ dioramas but have never once introduced a story line! I'm Model Maniac, not Wikipedia! ;-)

I think the armor and the figures go together very well. The armor is an early war type and the figures also bear the name "France 1940". And since they're "Gen2" figures, they're supposed to be "newer" and "well molded" figures. I don't know about the "SS" or the "Befelswagen" or any details attached to them, they're irrelevant to me same as historical accuracies. Leave that to historians, I'm just a modeler turned collector. For me, if the armor and figures are well-painted, the trees, grass, wall and groundwork are well made, then it's a job well done, and this is the case. Why are some of you guys are so serious about it? I just don't understand. A fellow modeler in Thailand said that "However much accuracy and precision you put into your works, your armors still can't run and you planes can't fly, so why so serious about them?"

The other day I got a forwarded mail from a friend and the content is interesting. It reads:

=============================

A Story to live by

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.'

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages
came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The
girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying:

'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who
was always by their side in the most painful situations.

Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone
who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone
who's crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who died
too early on this earth.

Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who
desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or
sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who
walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the
unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning
another - Remember that not one of us is without sin.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on
your face and think: you're alive and still around.

----------------

I PRAY
THIS MOVES AROUND

THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE... "

=========================

I'd like to add one more:

Before you complain about the inaccuracy or imperfection of a built kit - think how lucky you are that I keep making a bunch of them available for your viewing (and grumbling) every a few weeks' time. That's to say you'd be out of job and perhaps out of mind if I quit! ;-)

None of it is his.  He only buys them built and shows them off here looking for "atta boys."

Well, sorry about that then, that's kinda bogus, I thought that here's a guy doing his own work and sharing it for everyone.  Once bitten....

Was the Germania Regiment even created in 1940?

Yeah, The regiment was formed, along with the Deutschland Regiment, from various battalions of the Verfügungstruppen and became the foundation for the 2nd SS Panzer Division (Das Reich) and 5th SS Panzer Division (SS Division Wiking)...

MM, did you talk to your guy about kitbashing the figures you supply him as we discussed?  I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but he's really limiting himself doing this "Straight Out of the Box" stuff, and as a result, the work is suffering...

I know you don't like negative feedback for "your" stuff, but it seems that AI could really use some help...  I mean, you always post the stuff in here, welcome comments and feedback, but yet nothing changes...  I don't mean to come off like I'm some kind of "diorama snob", but the guy really needs to get input from other dio builders in here and at least try to apply some of the hints and tips... His modeling skills are good enough to produce much better work, IMHO...  Since you're the only connection between his work and the input given here, I, for one, would like to see his work in progress sometimes in order to help him become a better diorama builder... His work as of the last 4 months that I've been watching, haven't appeared to have grown in any direction, never mind "up"... Nothing has been very imaginative, there's no story, and if there's any action, it's an by accident rather than by design...  One can't build a kit, then assemble some figures and plop 'em on a landscaped base and call it a diorama... Well, not a great one, anyway... Were it me, I'd have taken this same concept, and just to keep it within the very minimums for improvement, added some French signage, a check point with at least one Feldgendarme (That's a German MP for you folks in Rio Linda, CA), and he'd be discussing the map with the two guys on the left side while the Panzer Commander looks on with his driver, and blown off using the other two guys...

But hey, that's just me...

Hi, MM,

I agree with the points some of the others have made, I think you need to add something to indicate more clearly that it takes place in France in 1940, and not sure why the figures have the Waffen-SS Ärmelabzeichen, but no other SS insignia.  It looks like they were cast integral to the figures.  Was the Germania Regiment even created in 1940?  In 1940, the typical Ländser would have the standard Litzen on his collar.  And should they have the Hoheits- und Heeresabzeichen (national and Army shields) on their helmets at this time, too, or were they removed by May 1940?  I'd have to check my references at home.

Also, I think the pair to the left of the pictures is pretty good, they have a focus, so the viewer can make out that they're doing something.  But I would modify the standing pair to the right, either by cocking their heads, to show more of a conversation, or even by modifying them to focus their view off the diorama base, and direct the viewer's eye that way.

I think you probably ought to include some crew for the Panzer, too, even just one figure.

But I like your weathering and other techniques, it just looks like the idea could use some tweaking.

Regards,

Brad

Can you atleast to get your AI to use newer figures.  I expected to see that new set with the two german infantry capturing the french infantry, or something.  The figures he uses are so... static and not well molded.

I see no SS Insignia, but the SS eagle. I don't get the story, and the guys at the gate seems very stiff... And, kind of, looking at each other.. Open Eyes contest?

And as said, wheres the panzercrew? and where is the leader? As it is a Befelswagen..

I don't get it...  What's the story, MM? There's SS Infanterie, but where's the Panzer crew?  Probably should have added some signage that establishes the local as France as well...  Your guy use figures straight out of the box again? (I'm not familiar with very many of Dragon's figure sets)
