Polar Lights Dick Tracy

I suppose this should go here, and not in figures, because it comes with a base/diorama for Dick.

I have been working on him the whole time my computer is down (new mobo and cpu, yay, its workin)

There are some terrible seams and mold lines on this kit, but nothing I couldnt handle.  I always start with the accessories, weapons, things like that, on kits.  So I started with the trash can/barrel thats in the alley.  The Can has a gash in the side, but I disliked that, there was nothing inside, just hollow, so what I did, is I got some parafilm, wrapped it around my thumb, and made it into a trash bag.

While I did that I started on the base, the fire escape, wall, and the alley itself.

I painted the trashcan, and trash.  The bag I made was painted black, check it out

With that in place, the fire escape painted (more or less) and the street finished (sry no wips of that, did it all white, painted between the stones with a gray, over that with another, and so on, gave it a black wash.  After each coat I cleaned the brushes by whiping them accross the stones, giving them their look.

Though hes only held together by tape, alot of seams...

So we come to the window and the wall.  The wall itself is done with an enamel humbrol brick red, then I painted EVERY gap black, then sprayed it again with red, semi pre semi post shading.

Looking at the window I saw a problem, its an open window, see through, I couldnt let that stay so I went to the back.

I did some measuring and cutting

and stuck it on for a fit.

Painted and checked it out

OH NOES!  Theres a problem!

Random scraps of plastic to the rescue.

I stopped reading HERE:

After each coat I cleaned the brushes by whiping them accross the stones, giving them their look. Then, I stuck my Dick into it.

Steven.

I have the same kit in the stash.  Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

looking real good so far. What are the holes in the wall for? is it for DT figure?

tip: put some rust/scratches around the gash and maybe some peeling paint around the rest of the bin it's got a few dents, so it's not going to be mint.

Thats a good idea, but im weathering skills arent the best, besides washing and drybrushing I dont know how to weather...Confused [%-)]

The holes are for Dick, though, the pegs dont fit exactly into them some go in on an angle.  If I didnt have the wall finished already, I'd be tempted to fill the holes in, but that would take ALOT of work, and time I dont have
