Hey all,
Im currently in the process of researching a diorama/layout I would like to make based on the Western Front of WWI specifically trenchwarfare.
Im having alot of trouble getting information on the trench railroads that brought supplies to the front, and also information on the stuff behind the trenches such as supply stations, field hospitals etc...I can come up with lots of info on the reserve/standby/frontline trenches but nothing after that.
The diorama is going to be quite large(filling a basement) in a U shape. And I would like to incorporate everything into it.
If you could point me towards some good reading books, websites, etc... I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm also not sure as to the scale to use. Being that there is a railroad involved I think I may need to go with O Scale which I believe is something around 1/35 or 1/44 but not sure.
Also if you could point me towards suppliers for figures and whatnot I would greatly appreciate it. The majority of the dio/layout will be scratch built but I cannot do figures.
Also if any of you have experience with making "living" dioramas I would love to here your experiences. I'd like to put figures on movement rails so everything can be moving as it would have been then rather than a static dio with only a moving train(s).
Thank you very much for any help you can give me.
Steve
