new idea for a dio/vinyette GB
Posted by smeagol the vile on Monday, February 23, 2009 7:30 PM

Here is a new idea I dont think we have seen before, and a nice variation from tanks and planes.

Theres a shelf in my music building where one of the piano professors sells books, severly cheap.  So one day I picked up a book of Haikus for a buck, and I have fallen in love with the art form.  If you dont know how they are suposto work, the poems are very short, three lines broken into 5 sylables, 7 sylables, 5 sylables.  The idea is for the person to take the idea given in the Haiku and to fill in the small details in your own mind, painting your own picture.

He is my favorite poet, its why I chose his, when I read this one I get a mental image of three little children, around four or five, crouching down by the side of a pond playing with a fat toad on a lily pad.

So, I come to my idea, lets take a break from tanks, and guns, and planes, and impliments of destruction in one way shape or form, and try something diffrent.  Pick your favorite Haiku, or one your fond of, and build a small dio or vinyette based on the image that your brain shows when you read it.  Might have people or animals, may just be a nice bit of scenery.  It will give us all a chance to do something we never would.

What do you guys think?

Interesting. Ive used word association type methods to help brainstorm illustration ideas. I never thought of applying Haiku to the same method let alone using it to create a 3d model or Dio. Cool!

My previous method BTW is to divide a paper into 3 columns and list words in each column. 1st column being nouns, 2nd being verbs or action and 3rd being places things or settings. Then just mix and match.

I figgured it wouldnt be for everyone, but atleast it would allow people, from a purley functionality point of view, to get some real work done when it comes to groundwork.  Water, trees, plants, as well as use some differnt colors, eh'
