During Normandy, the Glider infantry of the 101 (327 GIR) were equipped and clothed in the same manner as conventional infantry:leggings w/shoes, M1941 field jackets, etc. After Normandy they were clothed in the same manner as the parachute infantry regiments (PIRs) of the division: rigger modified M1943 field uniforms, M1943 combat boots (or jump boots for those who had performed a single jump allowing their wear), etc. The marking worn on the 327 GIR steel pots was the "clubs" suite symbol.

Individual gear will be nearly identical for both paratroopers and glider troops: cartridge belts, suspenders, musette bags, trench knives, etc.

101st Airborne Glider Imfantry

I am restoring a 1/72 model of a WWII Waco glider which I made for my father about 14 years ago (he dropped it). It sets on a 12"x11.5" base which I intend on building up a little so it is not perfectly flat, and adding a grassy field. I am considering the addition of some infantry.
The Italeri 101st Airborne kit seems to be paratroopers. Does any one know if the paratroopers had similar gear and uniforms as the infantry?
