Jeep questions, decals?
Posted by Kevleerey on Friday, March 6, 2009 5:50 PM

I haven't had much time to build lately, but I've been trying to get some stuff done. I got out this Jeep I need to finish, but I haven't been able to find the decals for probably a year, and I was wondering if anyone had any left over from an old build, or a suggestion for what else to do. I have the star on the hood, but that's it.
Also, there is a fire extinguisher and a Thompson in a scabbard that goes on the fender and/or windshield. The directions aren't real clear on how to put them on. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks,

You wantin' the small stars and unit/admin bumper markings, right?

I might have some around here... PM me with the details..As for the scabbard and fire extiguisher, the scabbard will go wherever the driver wants it, or on some versions, it was mounted on the passeger side, eith interior on the right inside panel, or outside, on the panel behind the "door"... The extinguisher is (usually) mounted on the floor, between the seats, or inside on the slope of the rear wheel well on the driver's side.  It's a unit thing anyway, they go wherever the motor sergeant says to put 'em, so there's no "wrong" place... Just pick one that's logical and readily accessable to the driver...

I'm not sure how many decals I need. I'll have to look at the instructions when I get home if I can find them. I know there are the numbers on the side of the hood and front bumper, but other than that I'm not sure. I think there are two extinguishers with the kit, one under the dash on the drivers side and one outboard on the passengers fender if I remember right.
Thanks for the help. I'll send a PM later today, but I don't want to take any of the decals you need, that there are not extras of. I know there were several sets of numbers, but the other stars, etc. that there are only one of, maybe you could just send a copy and I could stencil them on or something. Thanks again,

Every time I try to send a PM, my computer disconnects me from the internet... I tried several times but I haven't been able to get it to work. I'll have to try and do it at school some time and see if it works there.

Adding decals now is going to be a herculean task to get right. You have a fully weathered vehicleYou're going to have to bleand in the weathering on the markings to match what youve done to the jeep.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

HvH- tried the email button but it didn't work at home, but works at school. PM sent. Thanks again!
AJ- I know i should have done the decals before weathering. I started this jeep years ago without too much thought about ever replacing the decals. Now I want to finally get a build finished and this one bugs me. I think I'll be able to get it to look decent though, I only used two shades of brown to weather it.
