They're "self-recovery" logs... Pretty common on Soviet tracks... Tankers use the logs along with cables/chains to recover a tank that's high-centered itself on an obstacle or something similar, like tree stumps & boulders... JMHO, but the infantryman looks bit underdressed for the weather... Sort of like the "Unditching Beams" carried on early German AFVs. razorboy |
