WWI trench
Posted by Leddy on Friday, May 8, 2009 3:56 AM

I am plannning a WWI diorama and need to build the side of the trench.  In  your opinion were the sides lined with boards and support poles  or wicker  or sandbags.  I plan to put a couple of layers of sandbags at the top of the trench.  I know the depth varied a lot but I plan to make  it slightly deeper than the heighth of a standing man.   How many rows of barbed wire would protect hte trench, 2 or 3 or more. I would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks!

As for wire, there's several rows, but they're quite a ways from the trenches themselves... The closest row of tanglefoot would be at about 25 yards from the trench-line IMHO...
