German Halftrack winter Dio
Posted by Bodge on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 11:55 AM

Halftrack by Tamiya finnished in enamels with pigments, wall is individual blocks made from cement as is cobbles, tree and bushes are roots from the garden wth foliage added from herbs then scattered leaves on the ground from silver birch seeds and oak leaves. This is basicly a dio background that i made to photo different builds and so vehicle and figs are not fixed. the figure with the bunoculers is from the dark ages and was painted in the eighties.

Amazing work Bodge!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]The landscape and weathering is very realistic. I don't know this vehicle very well so I have to ask. Do the tracks have pads on them? I would assume so because the outside tracks are not touching the ground.

Lovely groundwork!  However watch the seams on the figures and parts of the halftrack.

Bronto i just threw this one together , the halftrack is a very old build of mine and the figure on the vehicle dates back to the early eighties . Not the sort of figure i would produce now but thanks for the tip anyway.

Excellent work all around Bodge.  Very impressive indeed.  There is one thing that caught my eye, however.  The gent standing on the seat isn't pressing the seat down at all.  I know that those seats weren't very plush, but I imagine that there would be some weight distortion.

Again, the display is very impressive.  Your stuff always amazes.

Interesting point, i suppose that would be correct. All the figures can easilly be moved as they are only stuck down with bluetack.Whistling [:-^]

None of this is fixed , the vehicle is just sat on dio and not glued , its  basicly a dio background that i can photo different builds on. heres another on this base.

Very, very nice work, Bodge.  I'll echo the other comments about a desire to have you post a tute on the foilage.  Really like the small detail, like the moss growing on the tree trunks, the fallen oak leaves and the stowage that gives the HT a "lived in" look.  The only downside is that some of the road wheels overhang the tracks.  Don't know how easy it would be for you to correct that.  But overall top notch stuff!

Man oh man...You know I'm lovin that halftrack, brother. Still can't get over the look of those seats. After your mini-toot on the weathering of the seats many moons ago, I'm only just now starting to get the hang of it (mine still don't look nothin like yours, though).

I know you mentioned the leaves on the ground, but how did you make them? Also the moss, is that just static grass or something, sprinkled over white glue, something like that?

Thanks,

Jerry
