U-107 In Rough Waters

im not a boat man...but you guys always amaze me when you create realistic water effects for them...the boat looks good (not that i could tell) but the water looks even better!!! nice job doc!

I have no idea about the kit .... but MAN does that look good! Nice job! I wouldn't change a thing about your water techinque in the future. 

... speaking of future ... the water looks a little dull in the pictures. It might make the whole thing even MORE realistic if the water had a little shimmer to it. However, I'd practice this one a scrap piece of water that I'm sure you worked on when completing this one. I'd try spraying the whole thing (with Future) vs. just touching up parts of the water like the crests, etc. to get that right about of sun glare.

 plasticjunkie, you got it right. I also have the typeIXC in my stash, but don't think that I'll ever build it. Scott, I applied four coats of Future over both the U-Boat and the water, for some reason it just does'nt show up that well in the pictures. Thanks again for the comments guys.

There is a good way to get the shine better on the water, after your done painting the
celluclay, add a thin layer of resin, then when dry, give it several coats of Future.

 Try using Polycrylic wood sealer by "Minwax" it is odorless, water based and using one or two layers to make the water effects it is more practical than what most people use. I discovered the effect when sealing a kitchen countertop. A quart runs about $7-12 however it goes a long way.

 It will come out looking white but as the sealer dries it will turn to a hard, clear finish with great results. After 50 + years of working on models I discovered that many home improvement products work wonders for hobbies such as model railroading and dioramas.
