F.F, I have found that sheetrock mud and light weight spakling make great ground work and its  cheap. Then you can sift real dirt on it and make it look pretty convincing...Not really a recipe...hope it helps.Big Smile [:D]

Durham's Water Putty is excellent too. Its cheap and easy to work with. Kitty litter is excellent when crushed to get different grades, making excellent rubble and rocky terrain.

Take your pick..

Just remember that any recipe that uses flour is going to have to sealed completely to protect against any "critters" that will wanna move in...

I still do groundwork with real dirt though.. I go down to the local baseball diamond and grab a pound ot two and then sift it a couple times... It works out pretty good when turned into a paste with water & white glue...

Hi figure freak, I just cover my styrofoam with pre-mixed dry wall pest, I know, not home made, but I can get a 5 pound bag for just a couple bucks over at lowes or the home depot.

Hope this helps, Jim.
