hans is correct...even during my army time...they dispised it! (hands in the pockets). they figured if you did that you wanted to be "joe on the block" lol. in other words that you were a ragtag nobody who wanted to live life as a civilian and not the "correct military way"! i was caught once or twice and told...but be careful, have the wrong guy like csm or someone catch you and you'll regret it! ... and throughout all the uniform changes over the years, they never changed that about the pockets either! HAHAHAH!!! Hell, I think they may have even made them MORE comfortable!! HAHAHA!!!!!

~ Hans..... Thank you for explaining. i feel better. Almost glad I didn't know it. really does'nt make a ton of sense still, but I take your word for it.

It's simply that walking or standing around with your hands in your pockets in uniform presents a "slovenly and unprofessional" appearance and is spelled out in AR 670-1, Wear and Appearance of the Army Uniform... AR 670-1 1-9 on page 6 states that you "will not put your hands in your pockets (while in uniform) except briefly to remove or place objects."  The "Air Force gloves" part of it comes from the Army attitude that the Air Force's people are more like "civilians in uniform" than military... Like the old gag, "Were you in the military?" "Nah, I was in the Air Force.."

The bad part about it is that the trousers have front pockets that just BEG for your hands to go them... The cut, angle, and depth are PERFECT for that and you have to make a concious effort not to do it...

~ Hey Ps1   ~  What the ****does that mean?      Anybody?

It's an Army thing... Putting your hands in the pockets of your uniform trousers for any reason other than briefly to retrieve an object is known as "wearing Air Force gloves" and will draw the wrath of the closest NCO that spots you doing it...Big Smile [:D]

"Hey, Osbourne!!!!! When did you join the &%^#-ing Air Force!?!"

My personal way of correcting it was to ask a Snuffy, "How long were you in the Air Force?", which was usually met with a dumb look and answered with, "Uh.. I never was in the Air Force, Sergeant..", at which point I'd motion toward his hands and tell him, "Then get rid of the Air Force gloves..."

Whoa! I missed the finish to this one...very nice vignette!!! Really well done...are these Miniart figs?

~ Thank you very much Eric ! ~ This vignette started with Master Box kit "German Military Men"

And later the actor playing 'Rudolf ' was replaced with a converted Platoon resin figure

Most of its in the pages of this build(though I hadn't shown the Platoon box art yet)

Hello INDY,

Very nice work. Different subjects on matching bases - I followed that idea once, too. Keep up the good work and have a nice day!
