Carrier Deck Diorama help
Posted by burner12 on Monday, September 28, 2009 8:04 AM

Hi i'm new here , so sorry if I make a mistake or two. But I'm currently on the start of building a carrier deck diorama with cat track and Jet Blast deflector. Also I'm adding a cat officer and a few green, red white ,and 1 extra yellow shirt on the side. The problem i'm having is I've never built a carrier deck diorama. I'm just curious from people who have done this before how hard is it to construct a JBD and rearrange the carrier deck figures to the right poses, and also ad in the tie down spots?

If you want to go the easy route, Verlinden used to sell a resin deck section that fits your description in 48th scale---also sold deck crew and other deck items...

I'll add this suggestion to Herr Feldmarschall's--try Flattopsandmore.com.  The owner is a standup guy and has excellent materials for the builder.  Here is the URL for his catalog page showing flight deck prints, including Essex decks post-SCB125 modifications, which might be what you're looking for.

As to rearranging the figures, I don't think it'd be any more difficult than any other figure-bash, but I'd check the Figure forum, there are many threads of builds including modifications and scratchbuilding that can give you ideas of the processes.

Hope that helps!
