Thanks  Hans for the kind offer.  However, spurred by your previous suggestions I dragged out and dusted off my old Haswaga box of flight deck personnel and I reckon I can do something with them.  Infact I have made a start and will post pics I think as I go along.  Thanks again for the offer but no need to disturb the dust .... I already did that!

I've got a couple figures, one's a Monogram Camel pilot, and another a WW1 German from a kit I don't  remember anymore... The German needs a head with a flight helmet.  They're yours if ya want them AND I can find them...

Biggles..There is a steel pin set into the tyre of the camel and this is glued into the top of the "tree".  I may yet push this further into the branch so that it appears as if the tyre is just brushing the tree top.  For inspiration I often look at those ceramic models people do of birds in flight  you can quite often get decent mounting ideas from them.  I did one a while back where the wing tip appears to brush a wave and another steel rod again took all the load.  Will take a pic and post it up as I think it worked quite well!

Very nice work, Rangie.  I have often thought that there are too few aircraft dioramas for my taste.  I appreciate that ground-based (ie armor) subjects lend themselves more readily to dioramas, but as an aircraft modeller, I am always hopeful that someone will be braver than me and try an air-dio.  I'm afraid I have no ideas to offer on WW1 figures - good luck with that - but I like what you have done.  What did you use to hold the Camel, and how did you fasten the model?

Cheers,

 Biggles

Here is my WIP dio.  Trying to show in 1/48th the Sopwith Camel actually overflying the downed Albatross.  Still much to do.  Biggest headache is sourcing WW1 figures in the scale.  I need the pilot on the ground and one for the Sopwith cockpit.
