Use Google maps to get an idea of the footprint of a hanger. Are you planning on having it as a cut away to use as a photo backdrop for models (read this as a helpful suggestion)? If you are planning on an entire hanger it's going to be a big diorama, and you are going to need plenty of patience to build it.

The Revell hanger is 1/100 scale even though the equipment and plane are 72nd.

There is a nice card model of a German hanger in 1/144th scale here:
http://www.tomtom-net.de/resources/cardmodel/hangar/hangar_f.htm

You can print it out at 200% to get it in 1/72nd or just use it as plans to make one out of sheet plastic.

Nice build of a 72nd hanger here but no plans.

There are about as many different designs out there as you want. Find a pic of the type you like and use stuff around to scale it.
Use Google search or Google Images to help (I found both of the above links using 1/144 aircraft hanger and 1/72 aircraft hanger. There were other results to these).

Good luck and remember to post pictures.
