question about 1/72 WW2 US ground crew and personnel
Posted by Codyg on Saturday, October 31, 2009 3:54 PM
I am going to attempt my first diorama and I was looking for a 1/72 US ground crew. I was wanting to do a tribute to the Black Sheep Squadron. I have been looking for personnel stationed in the South Pacific. Does anyone have a clue where I can start looking? I saw CMK made some that would work but I was looking for something in the US before I looked over seas. Thank you in advance. Codyg

There's the CMK set #F72115 (US Navy pilots WW2) and the old Airfix/Heller USAAF personnel (in OO scale but could feasibly be used and/or modified as required). The latter may only be available via HaT these days, but search around and you should not have too much trouble finding it.

I seem to recall that Preiser had a set of USAAF mechanics too (check Roll Models), but if not, their Luftwaffe mechanics set may be able to be modified to represent US personnel.

You might even be able to modify/adapt some US infantry or marines figures; have a look here for some ideas:
