Interesting dio idea

Stumbled across this. I think it would look good in a dio, but not something I would build.

I like the idea.  I would probably adapt it to a modern setting though, maybe like a wrecked jeep or some sort of 4x4 and some local militia just smokin and jokin by it...

It does look like a good idea. I'm not very good with dioramas so I wouldn't build it. Do you know what happened to the side armor? I can't tell if it was blown off or taken off.

I don't know about the dio idea Lbro but the T34 is right up alley. The AFV kit with interior would be a great candidate for that wreck.

Just venturing a S.W.A.G. (Scientific Wild-Azz Guess) that it was blown off, the result of a demolition charge set off by the either the crew (maybe) or engineers (more likely) in order to deny its use to the Germans.

for the photo above this.

I actually have a t-34 that i did a really shody job on. The tracks make it so thats it look like its been hit from a rockt or it has run-over  a mine.

i think that would be a really good build. ill come up with somethin close.

Shep Paine did a T-34-covered machinegun nest in his 2nd edition How to Build Dioramas in 1/15th scale... I'll see if I can find a pic.. The MG 34 team is using the T-34 for overhead cover.

Spep Paine's The Hornet's Nest

Sorry about the quality.  I don't have a scanner so it's a picture of a picture...

The MG34 is under the tank on the opposite side, but there isn't a good photo of it in place in the book..

The flag was made from epoxy putty... According to the book, Step 1: Sculpt folds into a block of modeling clay.

Step 2: Mix and flatten blob of epoxy putty.  Sandwich between two sheets of waxed paper that's been dusted with talcum powder and roll thin with a dowel.  Let the putty stand until it just starts to stiffen, peel from waxed paper and then cut to shape with scissors. Cut tears and holes wth X-acto knife and press into folds on clay mold.

Step 3: When putty has set, remove from mold and paint & decal...

alright, i probably wouldnt put a swastika on it. but a tarp of some sort would look good with it.

oh yeah. is that dio using a foam base or like that woodland scenics plaster cloth?

Well, the flag is there as an ID-flag so they won't get strafed by their own planes, or shot at by their own artillery/anti-tank sections...

The base is wood with styrofoam that's been contoured and then covered in celluclay and gutter gravel...
