Links to Kursk
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, December 29, 2003 8:14 PM
G'day fellow Modellers,

I have gathered everything I need ( so far ) for my Marder II dio and will be ready to start soon ( once the finishing touches on my Vietnam dio are complete ).
After a bit of reading I have decided to set my Marder in a town or village near Kursk, preparing for the famous battle.
What I need is some links or advice on which town or village to set my dio in. The maps I have are all basic ones with those familiar thick arrows showing who pushed from where, and modern maps which would not be the same as 60 years ago!! If someone knows any links for detailed WWII maps that would be awesome! Especially if it detailed which towns were in the hands of the germans leading upto the battle at Kursk!!
Also I would like to see photos of the towns in this area at the time. I personally find it difficult to find sites like these, could someone please help!!!

Thanks, Wade

The marder 2 is a fun kit. I am almost finished with mine.
I have a little more work to do on the crew as well.

Good luck with yours, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Thanks for the cool link Jon, much more detailed than the maps I could find. I've stuck that site in my favorites. What I really need to know is which towns were in the hands of the germans prior to the Kursk battle? My soldiers are depicted preparing for the battle with no evident concern about a sudden attack, so they are far enough from the front to feel safe... for now.

Once again thanks, Wade
