Hey everyone, I haven't even started building my diorama yet and am finding out it might not be possible to do it the way I want to. I am building a diorama of a 1/48 ch-46 doing a pinnicle landing on a small building with marines running onto the roof.
First, I cannot locate any modern military figures in 1/48 scale. Any ideas on what to do? I found plenty of WWII figures. I even found exactly what I wanted in 1/35 scale. I've googled and emailed dozens of sites. Most reply "we dont carry any, but I'm sure if you google it you'll come up with something". Yeah...as if I hadn't thought of that. 
Also, this is the first diorama I have built and I am wondering the best way to build a small structure. I am envisioning using some type of plaster with a mold set with balsa wood. it would look like a concrete roof with wooden timbers for a frame. I would then just mold walls and ceilings and put it together. Is this the right idea or are there better methods or materials? Any advice for the best way to mount the heli to the base would be appreciated. I was thinking some clear stock running along the bottom and then just make it disappear into the building.
