Here are three bases for projects on which I’m working. All are on 2 inch blocks. Where there is ground work, I used Celluclay mixed with paint, glue, and textured turf material.
The first one features a Shenandoah ladder rail fence with one set of rails cut to run in both directions from the post. The vine is PE from Seil Models (now defunct) and there are a few grass products including Silfor tufts. This represents a rural lane in early summer, past the mud season, where grass has grown in between the wheel tracks. It will be home to a soldier of the 1st New Hampshire regiment ca. 1780 as depicted by Michael Roberts.
This base features two gabions from Armand Bayardi and a “rock” from a bag of varied rocks, both from Military Miniatures Unlimited. This will be populated by an Art Girona Revolutionary War American officer.
This is Andrea’s metal and resin kit “Ship’s Bulwark and Steps.” This was painted primarily in Vallejo acrylics with oil washes to bring out the joints and wood grain. An Art Girona Continental Marine from 1776 will be placed in this setting.
