My Subaru
Posted by criticalem on Saturday, February 6, 2010 4:37 PM

Hi guys, I've been working on this model for about a month now and I think its best to know what you guys think about it so far.  The kit is Tamıya.

These pics above is the Subaru right off the box completed.  The decals were a nightmare!! some of them have even pealed off :(

The mud added  mud on the wheels  Mud Mud Mud!

Now, I weathered the Subaru to make it look like it just finished a muddy rally race.

The overall base the pond  the base These 3 pics is the base.  It doesn't look like much right now.  I am going to paint the pond and add some figures on the empty grass surface next to it.  I also need to figure out how to cover the white glue just underneath the tall grass.

the overall idea  the overall idea  Top view

These 5 pics are just the overall idea of my work.  I want the subaru to feel like it has just ended a race and parked somewhere on the track.  Hope you guys like it so far

Wow ...That looks great!  The base and the idea in general look fantastic!  Love the "mudding" of the car to match the scene.

As for the white glue problem...Do you have an airbrush?  If not try "dry brushing" the white away with a different color.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!!

I was tihnking of adding even more dirt to make it look REALLY MUDDY, everybody says the car just looks "too clean" so I'm not actully sure if it needs more workHuh?

what do you think?

In the pictures it looks muddy enough...but the pictures are kinda grainy so it's hard to tell.  Sometimes a little is alot.  Just be sure if you do add more mud that it can be easily fixed if you don't like the final result.

Nicely done! I don't know about that small puddle, it looks a bit out of place, or you could just add some pigments or chalk pastels around the edge of it, since right now it is a bit of too sharp of a cutoff.

Hey,

Yeah I know what you mean about the pond, I just added it there to make it look more like a swampy area.  It is my first pond ever and I am still working on it.  Hopefully the diorama will be finished before friday
