French / German Char Bis
Posted by Electric Blues on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 12:27 AM

I originally posted a few months ago, when this diorama was only a vague idea. It's coming along although there is still a lot of work to be done.

The diorama depicts the "Bourrasque", a few days after it was captured in France by the Germans, on May 16 of 1940. There will be many figures and one of them will be posed painting the tank field Grey. Some captured tanks were painted and others just had German markings applied.  As with most Chars that were captured, the Bourrasque had run out of fuel during battle.

There will be tools, a lot of fill and a Kubelwagen as well, with some officers who have come to see the conversion. Although I'm not sure yet, there might be a motorcycle team as well.

Sorry to have started another thread but I couldn't find my original one. Hope you enjoy the photos and feedback is always welcome.

Actually its looking really good so far! I never saw your original thread but from what you say, its coming along nicely and it should look good when you're done. I like the idea of having a figure over-painting it. I've seen models of captured vehicles but never one in the midst of changing colors. Cool idea.

Yeah, it happens some times. Don't be discouraged, no one means it personally. Some times the forums, especially armor and aircraft move so quickly that a post will find its way to page two or three before any one knows its there. Keep up the good work though!

Its really looking good so far - I like the idea of depicting an in progress re-paint. I also like the layout, and the buildings and details are really going to make this shine. I look forward to seeing all the figures bring this scene to life!

Figures will be...

-Four German tank crew playing cards on fuel canisters

-Two mechanics. One painting and the other moving tools around

- One German soldier peeing behind the shack

- One German soldier looking on from the Kubbel

Sorry man Embarrassed Missed  your post. Please point me to it!

 EDIT:

Found your thread! Oh man, figures like that would make any diorama look good! There's a reason I'm leaving the figures last... I'm terrible at them! I know it's something I have to learn but your are fantastic. You even have all these individual expressions on them. Just incredible! Mine turn out looking as if they all came from the same inbred family... with really pink and blobby skin!
