Destroyed T-34 diorama
Posted by 101stAirborne on Saturday, June 19, 2010 10:28 PM

Here is another dio I have been working on. I was planning on having some Russian POW's walking by with some Germans watching over them, but I am not sure if I should do that because I want the main focus on the destroyed T-34.

Here is the interior of the T-34. Scratch built

The figures are not attached to the base yet so I could take some out or move some.

Great start! One request that in your next update would you please post a few more pics of the T34? Sometime in the indefinate future I'm going to try to do a knocked out one in a Korean War dio.

Hello 101st!

The dio is looking nice so far, just the fotos coulda been bigger, then we could say more. I'd say let's call Hans von Hammer for help here, but I think the title has an error in it. I'd go more in the direction of "Der Tod des eisernen Tieres". Good luck with your project, have a nice day

FWIW:  If you want the focus to be on the T-34, why muddle the issue with POWs and sentries walking around?  Dump the grunts and show only the T-34.

I like this one too.  Shows a lot of promise.

One question - what are the two crates on the back of the T-34?  They look out of place, at least to me...

Post more pics when you can.  Good stuff so far!

Nice. I'd darken up a few areas, since it seems a little undramatic otherwise.  Grim scenes like this can be enhanced for effect w/o anyone getting on your case. Also, consider moving some of the characters closer together, as if they're talking, etc.  Reminds me of Hollywood movies with tons of random gunfire, yet the bullet holes are always exactly spaced 6" apart. Random is where it's at. Nice horsey...I think I see Hitler's head up his butt.

I am not quite sure how I will place the figures. Any good ideas?

For example the 2 *** could be closer as if they're talking and one can be standing closer to the horse. I see 2 looking over a map together, which is cool. Keep in mind that muddy ground gives way to muddy boots (and hooves).  I'm just being picky, You've done such a great job that this is the type of dio that can be a work of art with a  few added touches. I like the watery boogies.

Hi 101st~

Another nice ambitious  project with alot going for it. The elements look good-Just keep playing around until you are happy with things--I find that it's difficult to decide on some placements myself--so many possibilities

Only thing I see missing is some suspension travel on your T-34. Not sure how your going to accomplish an adjustment at this point, but i know you'd value the observation

Compare the decending tank in the foreground with the one running flat

I see what you mean about the suspension Indy, but it is to late to do anything about that now. Too bad, it would have added much more realism to the dio. Nice observation though!
