tyre smoke?
Posted by britjeff on Sunday, June 20, 2010 7:02 PM

got an idea. my dad has a mitsubishi starion and he wants mebto do a model of it. was going to have it bin a garage as\a racer but now i fancy doing it as a drifter going  round a corner with two japanese schoolgirls in the back seat. what i need to know, has anyone got any idea how i could do tyre smoke? thinking it would be coming off the rear tyres, having had naughty rear wheel drive cars.

If I was you I'd skip the tyres and do the Jap schoolgirls.

Kind of a daftish to stupid idea. Make the pavement base with lane lines be blurred, ignore the smoke idea.

About the only way to model smoke is using cotton wool, or cotton balls to us Yanks, puffed out and tinted accordingly. It's difficult to pull off without a lot of trial and error but can look quite good if you keep fussing with it to get the effect you want.

I thaught of doing a drag race dio with this same idea. I was considering using a smoke generator from a HO or O scale train wired to a button that could be pushed to start the smoke.
