Nice work on the concrete. Next time you take a plane ride, get a window seat and check out the runway, see how the oil collects in areas where the service vehicles park, what kind of caulking is used between the slabs, the surface texture of the concrete, what new paint looks like compared to the old flaking paint. There are a ton of details in a runway that you never even stop to think about until you take a good look. .

Thanks for the info! I have been trying to figure how to make the concrete slab look w/o spending a small fortune. Now I have a great idea in mind! The base looks great!!!!

Thanks tonka and bbrowniii the sqaures are 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" and the base is 8 1/2" x 11" I looked a FSM's article about making airplane bases.

Airplane base

Here is a base I made to bring to shows to display aircraft. I used sheetrock joint compound for the cement. when it dried I sanded it flat and scribed in lines. I painted using Tamiya dark grey, dark sea grey and testors light grey. then I added grass and some oil stains with Tamiya smoke.
